Last Friday, MCS’s long-serving Site Foreman, Mick Edwards, officially retired after more than 50 years in the construction industry - including an incredible 28 years delivering high-quality projects across the South East for MCS.
Throughout his time with us, Mick led many complex and challenging projects, including the conversion of the Speech Hall at St Catherine’s School, the extension of a teaching block at Tiffin Boys’ School, and the full refurbishment of Leatherhead Fire Station - all while ensuring the station remained fully operational.
Following completion of the Leatherhead Fire Station project in 2021, Nikki Miles of Surrey County Council shared: “…thank you so much to the team on site especially Mick, he has been one of the easiest Site Managers I have worked with for a long time. He has made the job run smoothly in what could have been a difficult environment especially during the current COVID issues, I have had the confidence that the site and all the trades have been well coordinated and managed throughout.”
Of Mick’s retirement Paul Hodges, Chairman of MCS, said: “It has been a real pleasure working with Mick. His contribution over many years has been truly significant. He will be missed by all his colleagues, and we wish him every happiness in his retirement to Devon. We thank him warmly for his outstanding service.”
As Mick is not on social media, we invite you to please leave a message for him in the comments below, or email your thoughts to tclark@mcs-construction.co.uk; we would be delighted to pass them on to him.
Wishing you all the best, Mick. Your legacy at MCS is one of excellence, professionalism, and dedication. You will be greatly missed.
