Essential preservation works are progressing well at the Grade I Listed Museum of Farnham, undertaken on behalf of, and with funding from Waverley Borough Council, following the discovery of areas of rotten timber. To ensure the building remains safe and stable throughout the repairs, the team has been installing internal props in preparation for the removal of the decayed structural beams and wall plates.
The team are now working on setting up the block and tackle system on the beams beneath the tin hats. This will allow us to carefully lift the existing structural beams and wall plates, providing essential support to the ceiling while the new timbers are installed. These careful measures are vital to preserving the building’s historic character as the restoration progresses into its next stage.
