The restoration works at Museum of Farnham, undertaken on behalf of, and with funding from Waverley Borough Council, is progressing smoothly.

Recently, the team has been working on carefully repairing brickwork under the window aprons on the museum’s front façade to restore its historic character. This is a meticulous job as the bricks are hand carved in a workshop; therefore, the team need to be extra diligent when repairing damaged bricks and deep tamping the brickwork joints to ensure each individual brick is returned to its original position.

Scaffolding is currently being reconfigured and erected to the rear and side of the museum, as well as extending the scaffold temporary roof over the entire building. The detailed scaffold redesign ensures that the access lane to the side of the building remains unobstructed, to ensure that vehicles and pedestrians can safely pass under the scaffolding when accessing the lane below.

Once the scaffolding is ready, the team can get to work on removing and reconstructing the chimneys and parapet walls as well as providing essential support for the carpenters to come in and replace the decaying structural timbers in the roof.
