Last week, we were delighted to welcome Farnham & Bordon’s MP, Gregory Stafford, to The Link Community Hub in Haslemere, Surrey.
During his visit, Gregory toured the site and observed our team completing plastering works on the internal walls, as well as installing insulation within the roof timbers.
When asked how this new space will benefit the local community, Gregory commented “The work they do is so important to the community, and having a brand-new space, custom-built for them, is going to be a game changer and help some of the most vulnerable people in our constituency.”
Reflecting on the construction progress, he added “I think it’s amazing. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but my expectations have been absolutely blown away. It’s an incredible space. The facilities are going to be first-class, and the way it blends with what was here previously - the nods to the original architecture, such as the walkway between here and the church - looks fabulous. The modern entrance on the other side will be a great addition. It is both entirely modern and totally in keeping with the building’s heritage - the two have been blended beyond my expectations.”
He also highlighted the importance of the accessible design, noting “Given the nature of the clientele coming here, the accessibility features are absolutely vital. They also mean that the downstairs space, which will be available for hire, will be open to far more people than before.”
“It’s going to be brilliant and fabulous, and we can’t wait for it to open!”
Cathy and Debbie from the Parochial Church Council of Haslemere also expressed their appreciation for the visit “We are really delighted that our MP and town councillors have been so engaged with the project, interested in the progress, and so supportive. It has been wonderful to talk with them about all the ways this building will serve our local community.”
MCS is proud to be delivering such an important development for the town of Haslemere. The new hub will provide an accessible, versatile space for a wide range of people to enjoy and benefit from, and we look forward to seeing its impact upon completion.
