On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome members of Your Fund Surrey, part of Surrey County Council, to The Link Community Hub to view the site’s progress.
During the visit, Clover Cotmore, Shelley Lynch and Sarah Adams from Your Fund Surrey, observed the second-fix electrical works being installed upstairs. They were also able to view the progress of the decoration works, the new doors that have been fitted, and walked up the newly installed staircase to see the developing spaces.
After viewing the advancements that the hub has made so far, Shelley mentioned “It’s really amazing. It looks so big and grand with intimate spaces that are just beautiful.”
Clover also highlighted the design and accessibility of the building, commenting “I think that having all the different spaces is great, especially with how accessible it is. It feels like a proper community build and it’s really impressive.”
Sarah added her appreciation for the level of care behind the project, stating “You can see the amount of thought and attention to detail that has gone into this.”
Additionally, Debbie Peet from the Parochial Church Council of Haslemere expressed her gratitude to Frankie Johnson, Site Manager at MCS, saying “Any troubles we’ve had, Frankie has bent over backwards to help fix. He’s been absolutely brilliant.” This is a true testament to the hard work Frankie and the team have put into the Hub so far.
The next stages of the project will include flooring installation, bathroom wall panelling, paving around the main entrance, and second fix carpentry and mechanical works.
Once an old Victorian school, the building is being transformed into a vibrant community hub for events, counselling services and more. The project will have a significant impact on the local community, and we are excited to see the positive difference it will make once complete.
