Smithers Laboratory Reaches Final Stages

The MCS team is now approaching the final stages of delivering a new extension at Smithers Laboratory in Leatherhead, in close collaboration with Lewis & Hickey and Day & Johnson.

Significant progress has been achieved in recent weeks. The structural steel frame has been fire-protected, external brickwork has been completed, and the installation of insulated wall cladding is currently underway. Flat roofing finishes are also being applied to the canopy.

Internally, works are progressing well with new openings formed to seamlessly integrate the existing laboratory with the extension, and internal decorations have commenced.

The next phase will include the installation of resin flooring and roller shutter doors, bringing the project closer to completion and final handover.

Once complete, the extension will deliver an additional 253m² of high-quality laboratory space, significantly enhancing Smithers Laboratory’s capacity to innovate, expand, and support its growing operations.
