Works at Epsom Fire Station are progressing smoothly on behalf of Surrey County Council, with the firefighters now re-occupying the building.
The upper floor is nearing completion. The dormitories are fully fitted with new lockers and air conditioning, both male and female bathrooms are complete, and the study room, recreation room, and tuck room are finished. The remaining works on the upper floor include the full refurbishment of the kitchen and final finishing touches to the mess hall. These completions have allowed the firefighters to move back into the dormitories and make good use of the new facilities.
On the ground floor, the control room and cardio gym are complete. The bathrooms are currently undergoing a full strip-out and refurbishment, and the weights gym is almost finished, with only new windows to be installed and final decorations to be completed.
The next phase of works will involve the temporary relocation of the kit room to the gym, enabling the MCS team to carry out a full refurbishment. This will include re-plastering, installation of a new ceiling structure, upgraded storage solutions, new flooring, and complete redecoration. In addition, the breathing apparatus storeroom will be enhanced with the removal of existing cupboards and the installation of a new worktop and storage units, preparing the space for a comprehensive redecoration.
