Encouraging Talent Into Construction

Speaking of his experience at MCS, Angus said: “I anticipated and hoped to learn the relationship between architecture and construction management at MCS but I certainly didn’t expect the vast amount of knowledge which I would be exposed to.

“The reason for my desire to enrol in a week of work experience at MCS was specifically to understand an Architect’s role in construction and gain an understanding for the other important areas within the industry I have not previously considered. Even potentially as a career.

“After the end of the week I am happy to say I have achieved this desire and learnt much more than I imagined I would along the way. Areas of work I have been exposed to, include: Business development, marketing, bid winning, surveying, estimating, administration, proposal management, document control, health & safety and site management.”.

I’d like to thank the team at MCS for taking me under their wing and helping me gain an insight into the industry of construction through their helpful guidance.”

In response Managing Director, Justin Whiteman, said: “We are delighted that Angus enjoyed his week with us and are passionate about giving students a truly exciting, immersive and rounded experience working within the construction industry.

“We want to change the negative perception of construction and are passionate about nurturing the talent of tomorrow, so we welcome work experience placements from local schools.”
