Significant Milestone Nearing Completion

With works now coming out of the ground at Hurstpierpoint College the new 25-metre competition swimming pool, built on the site of the old redundant theatre building, is starting to take shape.

In an update on the current developments on site, Ryan Price, MCS’s Site Manager, said: “Progress to the RC Frame nearing full completion.  Gridlines 1-3 roof steelwork ready for concrete and gridlines 10-12 first floor to roof verticals complete.

“Formwork for the roof on gridlines 10-12 is currently underway ready for steelwork to be installed. The intricate formwork between gridlines 3-10 has been impressive with the build having to be precise.

“Once these crucial steps are completed, the steel frame will be installed and the full scale of the build will be in place ready for the follow-on trades.

“Internal blockwork on gridlines 1-3 has now started with the front area forming shape preparing for the follow-on trades.”

This project has brought together the expertise of Miller Bourne, Wenham O’Brien, HOP, RED Engineering, FT Leisure and MCS to design and construct a Swimming Pool building that provides a 25-metre, 6 lane swimming pool, conforming to ASA competition standards.

The building, with many sustainability features, will also provide: changing rooms with toilets and showers; disabled changing rooms, store room and reception area.

These works are due to complete during Spring 2025.
