Piling Commences at Glenthorne High School

We are delighted to confirm that piling commenced last week at Glenthorne High School, which is a secondary school and sixth form in Sutton, Surrey.

The team constructed 43 rotary bored piles in less than 3 days, which included erection and re-rigging of the 15-tonne tracked piling rig, which was ideally suited to the confined restrictions of the site.

Once complete the site was left in an impeccable position ready for pile cropping and ground beam construction, after the seven-day curing period.

Construction Manager, Paul Gurney commented “It was a pleasure to work with Piled Solutions on this contract. Barry and the team were meticulous in their execution of this phase of works and we look forward to working together again.”

Working in collaboration with Isosceles, Plan A and Scott White Hookins, MCS has been appointed to construct a new single-storey bulge class extension teaching block of approximately 340m2 incorporating teaching, administration and WC facilities.

The new building will feature many environmentally conscious features, including: hempcrete blocks, wood fibre insulation, a green roof and air source heat pumps.
