Old Woking Community Centre Complete

Following 10 months of structural refurbishment, The Old Woking Community Centre once again opens its doors to local residents.

MCS commenced works on the community centre in November 2022 to carry out the extension and reconfiguration of the building, including the installation of two new lifts, an air source heat pump, PV panels, low energy lighting, low water use toilets as well as upgraded electric wiring throughout.

All these building improvements - including making the building more sustainable and therefore cheaper for the local community to run - would not have been possible without the generous donations from local residents, Woking Borough Council, Surrey County Council and Woking College.

Today the community run non-profit charitable organisation can continue to enjoy their new facilities in support of cultural, educational and social community activities. The building will also be used by their neighbour and Old Woking Community Centre investor Woking College.

Justin Whiteman, Managing Director, said; “I would like to thank Macallan Penfold architects for designing this marvellous building and Synergy LLP and of course our brilliant construction team including Balazs Ferenczi, Paul Gurney, Adrian Rumble and all our subcontractors and suppliers. Their collective efforts have been rewarded by this fantastic building for the whole community to enjoy.”
