Progress is advancing at great pace on the refurbishment of Oakwood School's Gymnasium.
Over the past couple months significant strides have been made with the roof. The scaffolding for the temporary roof has been erected, allowing for the removal of the old waterproof layers, coping deck, and asbestos roof deck.
With the successful completion of the strip-out phase, structural enhancements with the installation of Heli bars for reinforcement and various brickwork repairs to restore the gym’s exterior has commenced.
The next phase of work, includes the completion of the Brick metal decking, building up the parapet, installing tin and - remove timber decking, continuing the felt strip, and Bauder insulation of the flat roofing system, along with the installation of guttering and downpipes.
Once Inside the building, attention will turn to the redecoration of the internal beams with intumescent coating - providing enhanced fire resistance and aesthetic appeal, gym line insulation, wall decorations, and floor replacements.
Scheduled for completion in the Spring, this refurbishment project will deliver essential upgrades to the building - modernising the facility whilst enhancing its safety and durability for years to come.
