Last week, we were delighted to welcome the Town Mayor, Councillor Jean Arrick, along with seven Haslemere Town Councillors, to The Link. The Councillors, who are based locally, have been following the progress of the development closely, particularly as the project has received support from both Waverley Borough Council and Haslemere Town Council through CIL funding.

Once a Victorian school, The Link is currently undergoing a major refurbishment led by MCS. The project will create a new upper floor integrated within a reconfigured roof structure, providing a welcoming reception area and a range of meeting rooms. Accessibility is a key priority for the renovation, which will offer step-free access, a lift to the upper level, and fully accessible toilet facilities.

Many of the Councillors were already familiar with the building and were pleased to see the transformation now underway. During the visit, they viewed the newly installed steel framework, which allows for the removal of the central chimney to open up the main hall. They also saw the new counselling rooms taking shape and discussed the use of insulated lime plaster on the solid stone walls - an eco-friendly solution that supports both sustainability and comfort.

The Councillors extended their thanks to Frankie Johnson, Site Manager at MCS, for leading the visit, and expressed enthusiasm for returning in the New Year to see further progress.
