Constructing Excellence Awards Finalis

We are delighted to share that our work on behalf of Surrey County Council at Bishop Wand School has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2025 in the Integration and Collaborative Working category. This recognition celebrates the strength of true collaboration and the resilience required to overcome significant project challenges.

When the original contractor abruptly withdrew due to insolvency, the project was left in a precarious state. Guided by Sir John Egan’s enduring words “Every crisis is an opportunity…” MCS responded with urgency and clarity. Within days, we assembled a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team, seamlessly integrating expertise to stabilise the situation and reignite progress.

Reflecting on the shortlisting, Justin Whiteman, Managing Director, said: “Together, we successfully delivered this school under budget, on time, with minimal defects and - most importantly - exceeding the clients’ expectations.

“What began as a deeply challenging situation was transformed into a successful, collaborative journey. The client’s previous negative experience of the construction process was not only addressed - but it was also completely redefined.

“My heartfelt thanks go to the entire MCS team including our Site Manager, Balazs Ferenczi and Construction Manager, John Rourke, our professional partners, and our incredible supply chain for their unwavering dedication to excellence.”

This project would not have achieved such success without the outstanding collaboration of truly exceptional individuals and companies. We extend our sincere gratitude to:

  • End User: The Bishop Wand CofE School - Daniel Aldridge & Lynne Denny
