Museum of Farnham
Under the careful guidance and supervision of Waverley Borough Council’s Conservation Officer, and on behalf of Waverley Borough Council, MCS is delighted to be undertaking restoration works on the Museum of Farnham. This important project marks a significant step in preserving one of Surrey’s most notable historic buildings.
The works include the recording, dismantling and rebuilding of the upper elements of the front elevation, including the parapet, decorative cornice, ashlar brickwork and second-floor window arches. These activities ensure that each feature is meticulously documented and restored with respect for the building’s original character.
Associated tasks are also being carried out, such as general brickwork repairs, replacement of leadwork hoods and cappings, installation of new flashings and rainwater goods, and essential joinery repairs and redecorations. In addition, further attention is being given to replacing the decaying timbers recently uncovered within the roof structure.
We take great pride in helping to restore the grandeur of this remarkable 18th-century town house, a building that stands as one of Surrey’s most significant landmarks. These works will ensure the museum continues to play a vital role in the cultural life of Farnham for many years to come.
