Project Description

Having undertaken works at the school in previous years, MCS was delighted to deliver a new sports centre project at the school on a D&B basis.

Working with the novated design team, headed up by FaulknerBrowns Architects, work on this complex structure commenced in March 2018. The mixture of a reinforced concrete structure combined with exposed glu-laminated timber framework presented a very challenging build, but one which is now visually very striking.

Externally, the use of pre-cast concrete panels combined with zinc standing seam roofing and wall cladding along with an element of the glulam structure being exposed really helps set this building apart from the rest.

The entire new facility, contains a state of the art fitness gym, multi use space - which can be used in many ways either as a dance studio, meeting space, classroom or small exam space - new changing facilities. In additon is a six lane 25m competition swimming pool complete with spectator seating, 1st floor viewing gallery and competition timing equipment.

To deliver this project MCS worked alongside a professional team comprising the lead Architect FaulknerBrowns, Structural Engineers Elliott Wood, Services Consultant Desco and Quantity Surveyor/Employers Agent Wenham O’Brien.
