Project Description

We were delighted to receive the award of a further project from St John's School, Leatherhead, Surrey which is a fully co-educational independent school for 800 pupils aged 11 to 18.

Working in collaboration with Wenham O’Brien, Weyside Architects, Perega and L T Stamford, MCS was appointed to carry out two phases of critical fast track works to deliver whilst the school was closed during the summer.

The first project, in the main building, involved the refurbishment and conversion of the existing basement to provide new changing room facilities. Works included the renewal of mechanical and electrical services, diversion of existing IT services, replacement of concrete floors, drainage installations and provision of specialist tanking system and FF&E.

The second project comprised the careful strip out and refurbishment of two first floor physics labs incorporating the prep/storeroom. Works in this area included the renewal of mechanical and electrical services and installation of new lab furniture.

In addition, externally, MCS carried out roof re-covering works over the two physics labs including renewal of a rooflight and infilling redundant rooflights.
