Project Description
We were delighted to be awarded a project to deliver critical construction and refurbishment works at Guildford Lido, on behalf of Guildford Borough Council.
Guildford Lido was built in 1933 and is of great historic and sentimental value. It is owned by Guildford Borough Council and operated by Freedom Leisure. In addition to a 50-metre lido there are outdoor changing facilities and a gym.
Working in collaboration with Lytle Associates Architects, Bernard Sims Associates, Press and Starkey, Melliss LLP and FHP ESS, MCS was appointed to carry out the extensive refurbishment and construction works including: careful removal of the existing outdoor changing facilities, breaking out existing concrete slab and subbase, extensive and critical alterations to the existing below ground drainage system.
Once complete a new subbase and concrete slab was laid and the construction of the new outdoor changing facilities including a glulam frame and roof began, extending the existing retaining wall at boundary of site. Additional works included the installation of new changing cubicles, WCs and showers.
These works were completed in Spring 2023.
