Steel Lift At Salesian School

MCS is delighted that there has been rapid progress over the last few weeks at Salesian School Chertsey’s new sports hall, culminating in the final lifting of the structural steels this week.

Over the past 10 days the project saw the delivery of 120 tonnes (329 lengths) of structural steel delivered by 5 lorries which were safely banked through the live school. The steels were then received by a 240 tonne crane which carefully and smoothly lifted the steels into position with the assistance of a smaller 60 tonne crane in a logical sequence and were then connected, lined and levelled.

The new sports hall, situated between the current gym and artificial pitch, will create a sports hub for the campus. Facilities will include a first-floor hospitality space with viewing terrace, reception, office, fitness suite, changing rooms, storage areas and a circulation space which also provides an internal link to another school building.

MCS is delighted to be working in collaboration with Lytle Associates Architects, vkhp-consulting, Framptons Project Solutions Limited and MEA (Michael Edwards Consultants Ltd).
