South East Construction Awards Finalist

MCS has been selected as a finalist in the Best Construction Project of the year category at the South East Construction Awards for its project at Harper House delivered on behalf of Spelthorne Borough Council.

The Best Construction Project category celebrates the region’s most outstanding new construction projects and recognises the teams involved for their high standard of work, client satisfaction and budget control in a safe and healthy working environment.

MCS worked in collaboration with MEB Design Ltd to deliver Harper House, an essential housing facility for displaced residents of Spelthorne Borough Council. Works began on 2nd March 2020 which also coincided with the first official UK lockdown on Monday 23rd March 2020.

The unprecedented world events of COVID-19 inspired MCS to develop and enhance its pandemic policy whilst adhering to the ever-evolving guidance from Public Health England and the UK Government to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.

Today Harper House provides emergency accommodation for more than 20 homeless families. It offers a local temporary home which is safe, secure and provides the best opportunity for families to move-on to settled accommodation.

Richard Mortimer, Project Development Manager of Spelthorne Borough Council, said: “…Delivering this facility has been vital to meet the needs of our community. MCS have been highly collaborative with good on-site management during the peak of very challenging covid and Brexit conditions. Importantly, the building was finished to a high standard.”
