MCS is delighted that St John's School Sports Centre in Leatherhead, completed in September 2019, has been shortlisted to win at the forthcoming RIBA 2020 Regional Awards.
This project was designed by MCS’s novated architect FaulknerBrowns Architects.
The new eye-catching building creates a two-storey extension accommodating a new swimming pool, multi-purpose studio and fitness suite. By wrapping the new build elements around two sides of the school’s existing sports hall, the two outward-facing public elevations give the perception of a completely new facility. This made it possible to retain the existing sports hall building—with minimal refurbishment in a future phase—as well as providing the opportunity for further expansion.
