Glenthorne High School Nears Completion

We are delighted that our marvellous project at Glenthorne High School is nearing completion with the placement of the green roof this week.

On Tuesday the lightweight sedum blend mat was carefully lifted into place to give the new building both climatic and noise insulation as well as providing important microclimates for insects, bird life and other species.

Working in collaboration with Isosceles, Plan A Architects and Scott White and Hookins, MCS is constructing a new single-storey bulge class and 6th Form Centre incorporating additional teaching and study space, whilst also providing much-needed welfare facilities and a café to supplement the school’s main dining room.

The new 340m2 6th Form Centre is designed to maximise the use of natural, low-carbon materials whilst also having a fabric that reduces energy use and increases comfort with moderated internal temperatures and good air-quality.

We are delighted to see that now, more than ever, our clients are seeking to create sustainable buildings that minimise energy and water consumption to combat climate change.
