Free Training For Subcontractors

Today MCS is launching its innovative free Mental Health Training campaign to its supply chain with the objective of trying to help the ‘one worker in six’ who is experiencing depression, anxiety or other stress related problems. This concerning statistic equates to 350,000 construction professionals in the UK.

We are inviting subcontractors working on each of our sites to undertake a CPD Mental Health Awareness course with the hope that this training will increase their understanding of common mental health conditions. It will also support them in their own mental health journey, including learning how or when it might suffer and what they can do about it.

This training will also help them decide if they want to train further to become a qualified Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) in their own business and help others. Now, more than ever, mental health first aiders are crucial to helping boost employee wellbeing as we adjust to a changed workplace due to the global pandemic, economic downturn and cost of living pressures.

In recognition of their completed training, MCS will plant a tree in their name (via the National Trust) to help tackle climate change and support healthy life for years to come. A growing body of research shows that spending time around trees and nature decreases levels of the stress hormone cortisol and increases people’s sense of wellbeing.
