Celebrating 40 Years of Construction

#Throwbackthursday - 1985 - Redland Plc

During the mid 1980’s MCS completed two projects for Redland PLC. The first project was a long bay extension to create a roof tile manufacturing plant at Westerham, Kent; and the second project was to construct a large industrial building with full size basement to house a large specialist wind tunnel testing facility at Capel, West Sussex.

Both buildings comprised traditional steel framed structures and industrial roof and wall cladding. The extension had traditional strip and pad foundations and a load bearing insitu concrete power floated floor slab. The wind tunnel building was half submerged into the ground with a deep basement constructed with temporary works and reinforced waterproof concrete to form the basement.

Both buildings were built within the confines of a very busy fully operational manufacturing testing facility.
