Celebrating 40 Years of Construction

#Throwbackthursday - 1993 - Museum of Farnham

MCS was appointed by Waverley Borough Council to carry out very careful and extensive internal structural strengthening works and a major internal refurbishment to the Grade 1 listed museum. This included installing large steel flitch plates resin bonded to the existing primary floor beams, a major electrical rewire and full internal refurbishment to suit the client’s final museum fit out.

The Museum of Farnham is located at Wilmer House, 38 West Street, which is an attractive red brick Grade I listed Georgian town house, built by a hop merchant named John Thorne in 1718.

The museum was founded in 1961 to provide the Farnham community with a collection dedicated to the history of the local area. Today the elegant Grade I listed Georgian townhouse retains many original features and boasts a beautiful walled garden.
